Basic Soap Making

In this fun class you will learn the basics of soap making. We will use the traditional Cold Process method and use oils that may be in your pantry already.  This  method produces very mild soap that is perfect for baby or sensitive skin yet will still clean the grubbiest of hands. This is a practical hands-on workshop. Take home  a beautiful  handmade  soap together with full instructions. All ingredients provided. View examples at the CEW office.

'Easy' Soap Making

Saturday 7 April, 9am-12noon, 1 morn $60
Do you want to make soap the cheats way?  Our tutor will provide batches of pre-made soap that can be reprocessed to form brand new bars of soap.  You get lots of interesting patterns as the different soaps merge together and you can customise your soap by adding scents and colours to make a unique and easy homemade gift! There is no caustic soda and no curing time, the soaps simply need to harden. Make soap the easy way!

Upholstery Workshop

1 weekend $150

​​Do you have a chair or stool that needs recovering? Bring your favourite piece of furniture back to life! Learn the basics of upholstery in this intensive weekend workshop with our experienced tutor.   You will be given the opportunity to meet with the tutor prior to the class to discuss your project and calculate the quantity of fabric needed together with any other resources that may be required. No large items accepted due to time constraints.  Basic sewing skills recommended. Material costs are extra.  Use of staple gun included in fee. This is a popular course. Spaces are limited -  enrol early to avoid disappointment.

Garden Design Workshop

Our qualified landscape architect, Holly Nichol, will work with you providing inspiration and advice. Holly will critique your plan as it develops. Bring along a site or building plan and photos of the area(s) and/or inspiration. If you want a more accurate design on completion of the course it is recommended you have a one-on-one consultation with Holly prior to the first lesson (Holly is offering her services at a discounted rate).

Sewing Workshop

Do you find the thought of sewing a bit daunting? Have you sewed before but lost your confidence? Do you need some guidance with an existing project? This class is suitable for both beginners and sewing enthusiasts. Make a new garment or up-cycle an existing item. Each student will work on their own individual project; yes YOU will make your own garment! Learn the basics, develop your existing skills, refresh your memory if you're a bit rusty. Become friends with your sewing machine. Yes, you CAN sew!  It is recommended that enrolled students attend an orientation evening on Wed 21 February @ 6pm where the tutor will answer questions and provide guidance in choosing both pattern and fabric.

Home Herbals

Using plants found in the garden and kitchen such as chillies, herbs and lavender, learn how to make a number of products including a soothing moisture cream, lip balm and rubbing oil. Discover the beneficial properties of each plant. Learn how to prepare the herbs for use and follow the step by step methods from in-fusing to bottling. Join this practical hands-on workshop and make your own Christmas gifts. At the end of the day you will take home at least four products together with a range of recipes. Fee includes ALL ingredients plus jars.
