Discover a new dish each week, including crowd-pleasers like Pad Thai, Satay Meatballs, & Dumplings. Your tutor Kelly Ngaru is a fully qualified and experienced educator, currently teaching at Hūkerenui School. She leads both a classroom program and practical sessions in the Food Technology room. Join us for an engaging and easy-going evening filled with laughter and learning! UPHOLSTERY WORKSHOP

Do you have a chair or stool that needs recovering? Have you always wanted to learn how to upholster but don’t have the skills or equipment? Learn the basics of upholstery in an intensive weekend workshop with our tutor, Goldie Van Der Lee. Gain the confidence to give it a go while having a laugh! Materials are extra and basic sewing skills are recommended. ​Don’t miss out - enrol now!

SOAP MAKING FOR BEGINNERS 

Learn the basics of soap making in this practical hands-on workshop. Using the Cold Process method and oils that may be in your pantry you will produce a mild soap, that will be gentle on your skin yet will still clean the grubbiest of hands. All ingredients provided. Tutored by local soap maker Chloe King. Book early as class fills quickly!

FERMENTED FOODS

What are fermented foods, how are they made and what are their health benefits? Fermented foods are probiotics that support a healthy gut and help us to stay healthy. They include yoghurt, kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut, quark etc. A healthy gut contains supportive bacteria that assist digestion and produces vitamins and minerals for us. Learn how to make your own fermented food to improve your gut health. You will make your own sauerkraut in class and the tutor will also demonstrate how to make quark. A range of recipes will also be provided for your to make your own fermented foods at home.
