JAPANESE TEA CEREMONYThe Japanese tea ceremony is known as Sado/Chado (The Way of Tea). Sado isn’t just a way to try delicious tea. Zen Buddhism was a primary influence in the development of the culture of Japanese tea and practicing tea ceremonies can also train you in mindfulness, etiquette, and sensitivity. And of course, tea is considered to have a wide range of health benefits. This Japanese cultural activity involves the ceremonial preparation and presentation of Matcha. In this short Saturday morning workshop you will learn a simple tea ceremony which can be served at home, including the making, drinking and etiquette surrounding Japanese tea ceremonies. Our tuktor, Aiko Fukumoto, learned Sado in Japan and continues to make matcha tea for mindfulness and stillness.
