THE ART OF KINTSUGIThe traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi uses a lacquer dusted with powdered gold to bring together the pieces of a broken pottery item. The technique consists of joining fragments and giving them a new lease of life. The mended cracks are symbolic of an event in the life of that object which, rather than cause its destruction, has contributed to its unique beauty. All materials will be provided for this workshop however, you can choose to bring along your own broken piece of china/pottery (something simple is advised). Alternatively, Aiko your tutor will have pieces available for you to restore. Upon completion of class you will have a finished piece of work to take home.
